Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Volunteer

Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Charity Fairs are held at various departments and agencies of the Federal, State and Local Government, and at private companies nationally, so employees can learn about the CFC and the charities they might support with a workplace giving pledge. We are recruiting volunteers for the annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) pledge season at CFC Charity Fairs.

What is the CFC?

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season (September 1st to December 15th) support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. There are also more than 150 state and local campaigns in state, county, municipal, public schools and universities in 22 states.

What is a CFC Charity Fair?

A CFC Charity Fair is a great opportunity for charities to gain visibility and talk with potential donors. The fairs are fun and often have music, food and keynote speakers. Each charity fair lasts from two to six hours.

We are looking for a group of volunteers to work with on a rolling basis from August to December to attend various CFC Charity Fairs on behalf of Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. Invitations are sent on as an as needed basis and will be forwarded to the volunteer group. We try to give volunteers at least one week’s notice about a fair, but we receive some invitations only a few days before. Charity Fairs are held at various locations across the country for a minimum two-hour period on a weekday between the hours of 8AM-6PM.

CFC volunteers:

  1. Attend a training session, either in person or virtually. Training sessions held in September in preparation for the CFC season.
  2. Need to be friendly and upbeat while attending the fair.
  3. Engage with potential donors by talking as knowledgeably as possible about Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. (Training and materials will be provided to help with this.)
  4. Be available for the duration of the charity fair sign up for.
