Translational Research

Translational research takes the findings of basic science research and “translates” them into practical medical advances that help people.

EFFROC is funding translational research studies focused on identifying new and better ways to detect, diagnose and treat ovarian cancer, and/or research projects focused on improving patient outcomes.

Specific Interests of EFFROC include:

  • Early detection (screening, biomarkers, etc.) to address current lack of a screening method to effectively detect ovarian cancer at an early stage.
  • Maintenance treatments (with minimal toxicity); personalized medicine/targeted therapies.
  • Treatment-emergent adverse events/toxicity and side effects, both hematologic and non-hematologic.
  • Second line treatments after recurrence (new drugs, new combination therapies, etc.).

Awareness

EFFROC is committed to improving awareness among doctors and women alike, and is funding initiatives that bring lifesaving information about signs, symptoms, and risk factors, to those who need it most.
