Removing Fallopian Tubes Reduces Risk of Ovarian Cancer

Based on data showing that removing a woman’s fallopian tubes removes her risk of developing ovarian cancer, doctors are now urging women who are having their tubes tied to have them removed, instead. There is an increasing body of evidence suggesting that ovarian cancer may start in the fallopian tubes. Surgery to remove the fallopian tubes will then remove the source of cancerous cells.
