OCRA’s foundational level Workshops and science-related Staying Current sessions are designed to provide you with information to enhance your cancer understanding.
Based on where you are in your cancer experience, you are likely to have many questions about your diagnosis and how to cope with it. These workshops are designed to give you in-depth information, resources, and support, with a focus on helping you learn how to advocate for yourself and improve your confidence and sense of control, no matter where you are in your treatment experience.

Survivorship focuses on the health and wellbeing of a person with cancer starting from the time of diagnosis. These Survivorship workshops are a 3-part series that aim to provide discussion and information for gynecological cancer patients. It will provide information and conversation around topics including redefining your identity after diagnosis, managing late effects from treatment, managing fear and how to look forward, and overall wellness. Come to one or all three of the sessions based on your needs through your survivor journey. These interactive sessions will be held on Mondays from 2-3 pm ET.

July 20 – Managing Fear & Moving Forward
In session 3 of 3, We will explore how to navigate fear and discover meaningful ways to look ahead with hope. Fear can show up in many forms, especially when facing uncertainty. Topics in this session will include managing cancer related fear and anxiety, fear of recurrence, and ways you can make meaning of your cancer experience.
Endometrial/Uterine Cancer 101 is a 4-part series of workshops that aims to give you the foundational knowledge necessary to be your best advocate with endometrial cancer and/or uterine sarcoma. This series will provide a basic review of endometrial cancer and uterine sarcoma types and staging, standards of care, genetic and biomarker testing, and clinical trial essentials. Come to one or all four of the sessions based on your educational needs. All times are listed in Eastern time.
NOTE: Sessions are open to patients/survivors and loved ones/caregivers only.
August 10 – Gynecologic Anatomy and Initial Diagnosis
This workshop covers best practices in endometrial/uterine cancer care, gynecologic anatomy, types of endometrial/uterine cancer, and endometrial/uterine cancer staging.
August 17 – Genetic and Biomarker Testing
This workshop covers the difference between genetic and biomarker testing, genes associated with endometrial/uterine cancer, common biomarkers for endometrial/uterine cancer, and the importance of genetic and biomarker testing for targeted treatment decisions.
August 24 – Treatment Overview
This workshop covers the standard of care for endometrial/uterine cancer, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s Uterine Cancer Patient Guidelines, types and side effects of common treatments for endometrial/uterine cancer, and the roles of the various professionals on a gynecologic cancer care team.
August 31 – Navigating Clinical Trials
This workshop covers the role of clinical trials in cancer care, potential benefits of participating in a clinical trial, clinical trial basics and methodology, the roles of the professionals on a clinical trial team, navigating the practical concerns associated with participating in a clinical trial, and how to find a clinical trial right for you.
Ovarian Cancer 101 is a 4-part series of workshops that aims to give you the foundational knowledge necessary to be your best advocate with ovarian cancer. A basic overview of ovarian cancer types and staging, standards of care, genetic and biomarker testing, and clinical trial essentials will be covered. Come to one or all four of the sessions based on your educational needs. All times listed are in Eastern time.
