When Less Is More – Editorial

The L.A. Times published an editorial July 29 summing up years of data showing that aggressively screening and treating people for cancer does not always benefit them. The editorial also points out that population based studies may not apply to people with known risk factors, like a family history of breast/ovarian cancer. The editorial also briefly discusses the medical reimbursement system and the need for transparency as well as cost effectiveness data in order for patients and providers to make informed decisions.
