Starting the new year with a mission to fund ovarian cancer research Friday, January 2nd, 2015 – New York, NY Amrita Singh Jewelry is proud to announce a new initiative for the new year – a special capsule collection with a percentage of sales going to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Nearly 200,000 women in the US are living with ovarian cancer, with over 22,000 new cases diagnosed each year. Due to research underfunding, this deadly disease is often diagnosed in advanced stages when only 45% of patients survive longer than 5 years. When detected and treated early, the 5- year survival rate increases to over 92%. Collaborating with Ovarian Cancer Research Fund to increase ovarian cancer awareness and research funding, the goal is to increase earlier diagnosis and treatment, and raise the survival rates for women throughout the US.
When asked about the pieces selected for the OCRF collection, Amrita Singh said, “It is a new year, with new beginnings and change in the positive direction – through giving and uniting for a common cause. Ovarian cancer is every woman’s disease. I design my pieces to make a statement, in this case: that we stand together to fight ovarian cancer until we find a cure.”
“We are so grateful that Amrita Singh continues to help us raise both awareness and funds for much-needed ovarian cancer research. Together, we’re investing in tomorrow’s cure,” said Audra Moran, CEO of OCRF.
Amrita curated the OCRF collection with her signature jewelry designs reflecting the color of ovarian cancer awareness, teal. 10% of the purchase price from the limited-time sale will go directly to the charity. The OCRF collection will be on sale from January through March of 2015.
Ovarian cancer research and treatment is a cause near and dear to Amrita’s heart. Since 2007, she and her company have donated over $250,000 in cash and products to the cause. Join us in making a strong statement – in funding ovarian cancer research and with a strong statement in your jewelry box!
