DARLINGTON, SC — On Sunday, Sherry Pollex and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (OCNA) will launch “The Teal Appeal” at Darlington Raceway to raise ovarian cancer symptom awareness, encourage women to learn their risk, and know that there is no early detection test. Pollex, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer one year ago and is the girlfriend of NASCAR Sprint Cup Driver Martin Truex Jr., wants to make sure every woman is empowered by knowing the symptoms of ovarian cancer to help catch and treat ovarian cancer early.

“Knowing the symptoms of ovarian cancer is one of our best defense in catching the disease earlier because there is no early detection test. I’m excited to partner with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to spread awareness about the symptoms of ovarian cancer and to bring teal to the track this September through The Teal Appeal,” said Sherry Pollex.

Racing stars Danica Patrick and Martin Truex Jr. are also participating in The Teal Appeal efforts. For every $10 donation made to OCNA at www.thetealappeal.org, the donor will be entered to win a “2016 Race Experience” and meet Danica Patrick and Martin Truex Jr. Two winners will be picked at the end of The Teal Appeal on October 1, 2015.

During the month of September, drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Danica Patrick, and Martin Truex Jr. will wear teal gloves in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and will then auction them off to benefit the OCNA. The gloves will be auctioned off through the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation.

“Sherry is an inspiration and has bravely used her diagnosis of ovarian cancer to educate women about the symptoms of ovarian cancer and to empower them to seek treatment if they think they might have the disease. We are excited partner with her on The Teal Appeal and spread the word even further and make sure every woman knows her risk,” said Ovarian Cancer National Alliance CEO Calaneet Balas.
