Federal Funding for Ovarian Cancer: 2016 Highlights

As the voice for women with ovarian cancer on Capitol Hill, OCRFA fights to secure funding for ovarian cancer research and education at the federal level.

In 2016, with the help of committed Advocate Leaders, Grassroots Advocates, Research Advocates and action alert supporters, OCRFA was able to:

  • Successfully advocate for Congress to maintain the nearly $170 million funding level for ovarian cancer research and education at the NIH, CDC, and Department of Defense;
  • Add ten new members to the Congressional Ovarian Cancer Caucus and held a successful fall briefing on Capitol Hill;
  • Paint the Hill Teal with two Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill where more than 150 advocates met with Members of Congress from almost every state;
  • Make progress on a bill to bring about parity for oral chemotherapy drugs, earning 124 House co-sponsors, evenly split among Republicans and Democrats.

We’ve made great strides in ensuring that ovarian cancer remains a priority with lawmakers – but our work is never done. In order to keep our momentum, we need help from supporters like you to fund the programs that will keep ovarian cancer at the forefront.

Your donation ensures ovarian cancer is represented in Washington and throughout the country.
