OCRA and Continuing our Work

(March 13, 2020) As a global charity, we recognize the extraordinarily stressful times we as a society are all in together. We have taken every precaution to protect OCRA staff as they continue to do their jobs (remotely) in our collective fight against ovarian cancer. And if you have ovarian cancer and are concerned about how the COVID-19 virus might affect you, please reach out to us.

But we have also ensured that our work will not cease, because we know that every 23 minutes another person is diagnosed with ovarian cancer. While many colleges and universities have cancelled classes, they have not stopped conducting the research that is going to find a cure for this disease, and we must continue helping them do that.

We remain committed to our mission, and are also here to provide support in the ways we always do:

• OCRA’s Oncology Social Worker (available M-F at 212 268 1002)
Online support community
Peer-to-peer mentoring
Medical research
Advocacy
OCRA website
• Social media @ocrahope

The important thing to remember is you are not alone. As we practice social distancing, we must also work harder to find meaningful ways to stay connected. Stay safe, stay sane. Let’s replace handshakes and hugs with phone calls and well wishes, and join us as we continue our work.

In solidarity,

Audra L. Moran
President & CEO
Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance
