A Thanksgiving Message from OCRA’s President & CEO, Audra Moran

Who’s ready to build some new Thanksgiving traditions?

In our household, preparations are underway for one of the “cozier” holidays in recent memory, and I’m sure you’re busy as well, so I’ll keep it short and sweet. On this holiday that is all about gratitude, I need to take a moment and say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you

I have always known this community to be special—supportive of one another, resilient in the hardest of times—and absolutely driven to save lives by finding a cure for ovarian cancer.

So while it’s not surprising, it is truly heartening that in a year that has been anything but easy, your strength, compassion, and commitment to saving lives has been a steady force. You are making a difference.

You’re making a difference for—and with—people like Vernelia McKnight, diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2019. After her diagnosis, she searched for support in her home state of Oklahoma, and came up short. Then she found OCRA.

This year, she attended our virtual Uniting for Hope National Conference, advocated with us for policies that will support survivors, and is raising awareness every day through social media.

Vernelia knows we can find a cure for this devastating disease, and we know you feel the same.

Thanks to you, in a time when so many of us are apart, ovarian cancer patients are finding connection through our patient support programs.

Thanks to you, research that will fund future breakthroughs continues every day.

Thanks to you, there is hope.

We’re so grateful to have you on our team, to achieve what we are all fighting for: a world where no one needs to worry about ovarian cancer.

On behalf of the entire OCRA team, we’re sending our warmest wishes for a happy Thanksgiving and holiday season,

Audra

We’re excited for our very special #GivingTuesday campaign next week, and would love for you to participate! Just post a few words on social media, and tag OCRA, and a generous supporter will donate $50—up to $50,000. And of course, you can always make your year-end gift today, and help propel the research that will save lives.
