Christina Bandera, MD

Gynecologic oncologist Christina Bandera, MD, has joined the staff at the Program in Women’s Oncology at Women & Infants Hospital. She is currently seeing patients in Providence.

A graduate of Harvard University, Dr. Bandera earned her medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in gynecologic oncology, she completed an internship and a residency in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive biology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. She also completed fellowships in gynecologic oncology and in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

A member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and the American Association for Cancer Research, Dr. Bandera is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Brown University and has also taught at Harvard Medical School and at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She currently serves as the gynecologic oncology editor of Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation.

For the past four years, Dr. Bandera has conducted research at the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation as the Liz Tilberis Scholar. She also was awarded a Women’s Reproductive Health Research Fellowship, a Cancer Center Core Grant from the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center, and an American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant. Dr. Bandera has published numerous articles and chapters regarding the behavior and management of gynecologic cancers.
