Dr. Yuyu is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Prof Shih and Wang’s laboratory. She graduated from Bachelor of Medical Science with First Class Honours at the University of Sydney, Australia, majoring biochemistry and pharmacology. With a growing passion for cancer research, she undertook PhD studies on experimental therapeutics examining a class of anti-cancer agent known as thiosemicarbazone. Her PhD was awarded the Peter Bancroft Prize by Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sydney for its productivity. She is a recent recipient of HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation Outside-the-Box Grant (2013). Currently, Yuyu’s research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of recurrent high grade serous ovarian cancer and figuring strategies to combat relapses after chemotherapy.
