The White House has released a proposed budget for FY2018 that makes drastic cuts to the budgets for the National Institute of Health (NIH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These cuts would reduce the NIH budget by 20% and threaten to halt breakthrough medical research advancements and delay life-saving cures.

The proposed budget also seeks to completely eliminate the CDC’s vital Ovarian Cancer Control Initiative, which functions solely to improve ovarian cancer patients’ survivorship and improve awareness about risks.

Congress can and must stop these proposed budget cuts from becoming reality.
