After months of dedicated advocacy alongside survivors, families, and clinicians, the bipartisan Ovarian Cancer Improving and Modernizing Prevention, Access, Care, and Testing (IMPACT) Act has officially been introduced in Congress.

Championed by Senators Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) and Katie Britt (R-AL) in the Senate, and Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) and Don Bacon (R-NE-01) in the House, this bill addresses persistent barriers that keep patients from accessing targeted therapies, advanced diagnostics and specialized care.

The Ovarian Cancer IMPACT Act would:

  • Expand Access to Modern Diagnostics: Requires that private health plans (including grandfathered plans) cover appropriate genetic counseling, multi-gene panels, tumor profiling, and evidence-based risk-reducing interventions.
  • Strengthen Prevention and Education: Reauthorizes Johanna’s Law at $20 million annually (FY27–FY31) supporting education for patients and providers on hereditary cancer risk and evidence-based prevention, including opportunistic salpingectomy.
  • Reach Rural & High-Risk Communities: Directs competitive demonstration grants to underserved areas and strengthens rural health and telehealth networks that connect local providers with gynecologic oncology specialists.

We need your voice.

Members of Congress need to hear from the people who understand these challenges firsthand. Please contact your representatives and ask them to cosponsor the Ovarian Cancer IMPACT Act.

Thank you for your continuous dedication to the gynecologic cancer community. Together, we can help ensure that patients have access to the information, testing, risk-reducing strategies, and specialized cancer care they need.
