We are weeks away from election day and there is still work to be done! With Congress in recess until after the election, there is a short window of time to make things happen before the end of the year. Right now, the Multi-Cancer Early Detection Act (MCED) and the 2025 appropriations process are among OCRA’s top end of year priorities.
The Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (S.2085/H.R.2407) aims to expand Medicare coverage for multi-cancer early detection screening tests, which may be able to identify cancer signals in the blood earlier and positively impact outcomes. By passing the MCED Act in an end of year package, we can help make these tests more accessible. This is a pivotal step forward for our fight — please reach out to Congress now.
In addition to passing MCED, it is imperative that Congress finish the 2025 appropriations process. Each year, the federal government sets a budget determining how federal spending is allocated. This funding will play a major role in future research and innovations and will have real impact on individuals across the country who have been or could be affected by gynecologic cancer. We must push lawmakers to finalize this budget process and to prioritize cancer funding. Add your voice to urge Congress to finalize the 2025 appropriations process before the end of the year.
