Fortune Magazine Shares OCRA’s Lifesaving Ovarian Cancer Prevention Message

In light of Chris Evert’s ovarian cancer diagnosis, OCRA’s Chief Program Officer, Sarah DeFeo, and OCRA’s Scientific Advisory Committee member Dr. Gillian Hanley, spoke with Fortune Magazine about why knowing one’s risk and taking preventative action, such as fallopian tube removal at the time of planned pelvic surgeries, are the key to saving more lives.

“We know that hundreds of thousands of women are having surgery every year anyway, for a different reason, where they could take the opportunity to take out their tubes at the same time, potentially,” says DeFeo. “It’s something that they should talk to their doctor about, and it’s something that doctors should be thinking about.”
