Equitable access to BRCA testing: an Australian national data linkage study.

Project Summary
This project examines rates of testing for genetic changes in ovarian cancer patients across the Australian population. This testing (mutations in BRCA genes and homologous recombination deficiency) is a critical access step in increasing treatment options. The tests can also identify whether relatives have an increased risk of ovarian cancer, and as such have a significant cancer prevention benefit. The project will identify sub-groups of patients who are not receiving testing (e.g. age groups or area of residence). This information will help to develop targeted processes to ensure equitable access to treatment so that no patient is left behind.
