Strength in Numbers: OCRF and OCNA Unite to Form OCRFA

Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (OCNA) have led the way in advocacy, research and support for patients and their families for over 22 years. As of January 2016, we are pleased to announce we are joining together to form Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRFA), the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families.
Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance is a merger that unites our complementary missions: advancing private research, and advocating for increased federal research and awareness dollars, policy that gives women access to the services they need, while also supporting women and their families before, during and after a diagnosis.
Our collective strength and complementary missions allow us to hit the ground running and immediately magnify our already considerable impact in our joint fight against ovarian cancer. Together we are stronger, more efficient and incredibly more effective.
As separate groups supporting the same cause, we recognized that the organizations gaining the most ground against specific diseases were those that developed a “one-stop shop” approach through research, advocacy, education and awareness. Highly effective organizations such as The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and American Lung Association are just a few examples.
Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance will unite the ovarian cancer community as one strong voice, propelling the ovarian cancer field forward at an accelerated pace—exactly what is needed at a critical time when scientific discoveries are rapidly increasing, but federal research dollars are not keeping pace. We are here to provide private funding to fill that gap, while we simultaneously work in Washington to increase federal dollars, and offer the comprehensive information and support programs available.
OCRFA will still have all the familiar faces you know and all the familiar programs you love—scientific research, the Ovarian Cancer National Conference, Woman to Woman, Survivors Teaching Students, Advocacy Day—just don’t expect them to stay exactly the same. Expect them to get even better.
