“To improve patient outcomes – and quality of life – we must minimize roadblocks for access to cancer screenings that could change the course of a diagnosis. The time is now. We are urging Congressional action this week to enact this legislation into law.”

The Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance today released the following statement regarding the bipartisan year-end health care package to be voted on this week.

“The Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance joins the rest of the cancer advocacy community in support of the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (H.R. 2407) / the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (S. 2085). We thank the nearly 400 leaders on Capitol Hill for getting this widely supported legislation to this point,” said President and CEO Audra Moran. “This year alone, we will likely see nearly 20,000 new cases of ovarian cancer, and almost 13,000 women will die from the disease in the U.S. This status quo is simply unacceptable. To improve patient outcomes – and quality of life – we must minimize roadblocks for access to cancer screenings that can change the course of a diagnosis. The time is now. We are urging Congressional action this week to enact this legislation into law.”
