The ovarian cancer community is counting on a hero… and that OCRA Hero could be you!

If you’re looking to do good in 2022, it can be as simple (and fun!) as turning your favorite activity into a fundraiser. You can increase awareness and support just by going cycling, getting crafty, giving a concert, gathering friends for a party, or gaming the night away — for starters.

Want to be an OCRA Hero and make an impact, but not sure how? Get more info.

Get Active to Raise Awareness (and Support!)

For all who love a good workout, our Ovarian Fitness fundraisers are a wonderful way to bring your friends, family, and fellow exercise enthusiasts together to get active for the cause. Our Ovarian Cycle spin events alone have been held at more than 35 locations across the country and raised crucial funds for research, advocacy, and patient support programs. And our OCRA Heroes haven’t stopped there! Supporters of all fitness levels have continued to innovate when it comes to channeling athletic passions and wellness pursuits into making a difference for the ovarian cancer community. Some have gathered groups to participate in fundraisers focused on yoga, Pilates, Zumba, HIIT workouts, stretching sessions and more. Others have gone solo to draw support via marathonsultramarathons, triathlonsand long-distance cycling

Contribute Your Creative Skills to the Cause

Prefer pushing the limits of your imagination rather than pushing the limits of your physical endurance? Now’s the time to use your creative talents to help transform the future of ovarian cancer. Our OCRA Heroes have done everything from record a song to put on virtual performances for the purpose of raising much-needed research funds. Others have donated proceeds from accessories they’ve designed, including jewelry, head wraps and even face masks.

Throw a Party with a Purpose

Few people need a reason to party but gathering together (safely, of course!) to do good is an excellent way to raise both spirits and support. One OCRA Hero was motivated to mark his birthday with a party in memory of his mother who passed away from ovarian cancer, which then became an annual tradition. You can ask attendees to pay a suggested donation and even get your local businesses involved by appealing to them to provide raffle prizes. Are you part of a group that gets together because of a shared interest? Ask them to give back while getting festive with a themed fundraiser such as an art auction, car show, danceathon … you get the idea.

Give Back by Thinking Outside the Box

Have a hobby that you devote hours to but never thought of as a fundraiser? It may be easier than you think to turn it into a way to contribute to our community. Some of our OCRA Heroes have turned their gaming skills into a way to give back, for instance.
