Secondary Cytoreductive Surgery Post-Recurrence Results in Longer Overall Survival

A randomized trial recently showed that patients with an ovarian cancer recurrence who undergo cytoreductive surgery along with chemotherapy show better survival rates than those who only receive chemotherapy. An international collaborative of scientists, including Dr. Ronald Chandler at Michigan State University, studied ARID1A mutations, which are specific gene mutations observed in deep ovarian and deep infiltrating endometriosis.
