Nearly 1,000 runners, walkers, survivors, families, friends, and supporters gathered at Seattle’s Seward Park on Sunday, July 12, 2026, for the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) Rivkin Family SummeRun.
Now in its 33rd year, the event once again transformed the park into a sea of teal and purple, with people of all ages (plus lots of four-legged friends!) coming together in solidarity, hope, and action. Families and friends enjoyed a morning of activities on the shores of Lake Washington, with the SummeRun Sprinters Kids Fun Run kicking things off before the full 5K run/walk.

For more than three decades, the SummeRun has united the Seattle community around a single purpose: accelerating research that will improve outcomes for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Founded by renowned oncologist Dr. Saul Rivkin and his five daughters in memory of his late wife, Marsha Rivkin, the event has raised more than $10 million to advance critical ovarian cancer research. Since the Rivkin Center joined OCRA in 2025, OCRA has proudly continued the tradition while carrying forward the Rivkin family’s extraordinary commitment to scientific discovery and better outcomes for patients everywhere.
OCRA President and CEO Audra Moran welcomed the crowd and recognized the remarkable legacy created by Dr. Rivkin and his family, along with the thousands of participants whose dedication has sustained the event for more than 30 years.

What began as one family’s determination to honor the memory of their wife and mother, Marsha Rivkin, has grown into one of the nation’s longest running events raising money for ovarian cancer research,” said Moran. “Over 33 years, this remarkable community has raised more than 10 million dollars.

Bri Garza, an ovarian cancer survivor and participant in the SummeRun, talked about the importance of the SummeRun during the event’s opening ceremony.
We walk to raise funds for OCRA, for research, for early detection, for scientific breakthroughs that outpace disease progression,” said Garza. “We walk for those who are gone too soon, to honor those who we have lost. We walk for as long as we still can, and we thank each and every one of you for joining us.

OCRA extends heartfelt thanks to every runner, walker, donor, sponsor, and volunteer who made the 2026 SummeRun a success. Your generosity and commitment continue to drive real progress in the fight against ovarian cancer.
