Ovarian Cycle is back in Rio Grande Valley on September 19, and KRGV-TV Channel 5 News (ABC) recently sat down with Marlynn Olivarez, organizer of the fundraiser, to talk about the event and why it matters.

Over the past 10 years, the Rio Grande Valley community has raised more than $66,000 for ovarian and gynecologic cancer research through Ovarian Cycle, and this September marks the event’s 11th year. “It is an amazing event,” said Olivarez. “You’re helping your body and you’re raising money for research.”

She described the purpose of Ovarian Cycle as four-fold: “honoring those who have lost their battle with the disease, celebrating survivors, raising awareness and education, and funding continued research.”
