Happy New Year from OCRA’s Policy and Advocacy Team!
As we step into a new year, we want to take a moment to thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. Each year brings fresh opportunities to drive meaningful change for the ovarian and gynecologic cancer community, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Update on Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act
At the end of last year, we informed you that the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (MCED) was expected to be included in an end-of-year health care package. Thanks to our incredible network of Advocates who reached out to Congress, the bill was included in the final negotiated package. However, at the last minute, the package was dismantled, leaving the MCED bill and many other critical health care measures on the table.
While this was a setback, MCED was still the most cosponsored bill in the 118th Congress, with 320 cosponsors in the House and 63 in the Senate—an undeniable testament to the growing recognition of the importance of early detection. We will build on this momentum in 2025 to get this critical legislation passed. There is still optimism that a health care package—including MCED—could move forward in March when the government’s continuing resolution expires.
MCED remains one of OCRA’s top legislative priorities, and we need your help to push it across the finish line. Sign up for Action Alerts to stay up-to-date on opportunities to take action.
Welcoming our New 2025 Advocate Leaders

We kicked off 2025 on a powerful note by welcoming our largest cohort of OCRA Advocate Leaders yet! Last week, we hosted a training session for 71 new Advocate Leaders, preparing them to champion change in the year ahead. The new cohort grows the Advocate Leaders group to 165 passionate advocates representing 43 states and the District of Columbia, all poised to amplify OCRA’s mission and strengthen our advocacy efforts nationwide.
Our Advocate Leaders are at the forefront of the fight against ovarian and all gynecologic cancers, pushing for policies and funding that save lives. With their dedication and your continued support, we are ready to make a lasting impact this year.
Thank you for being a part of this movement. Your advocacy drives progress, fuels research, and brings us closer to a future free of ovarian cancer. Stay engaged, stay loud, and we’ll see you next month for more updates!
In gratitude,
Chad Ramsey, Vice President, Policy, OCRA
