September is Ovarian & Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, and despite some uncertainties on Capitol Hill in the leadup to the election, there is a lot going on at OCRA this month. We hope you tune in to our Advocacy Update at OCRA’s online conference to learn about the vital work OCRA’s advocates are performing on Capitol Hill to bring about access to new diagnostic technologies and improve care for the gynecologic cancer community.

In addition to advancing OCRA’s policy priorities as highlighted in last month’s post, our Advocate Leaders have been securing proclamations for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in their respective states and localities across the country.

On August 30, President Biden officially declared September 2024 as National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and thanks to the dedication of our Advocate Leaders, the month is being recognized not only at the national level, but also at the state, city, and local community-level as well. These proclamations are a powerful way to raise awareness and spotlight the ongoing fight against ovarian cancer. I’m so proud of the work our advocates have done this year!

Virginia Advocate Leaders met with the Secretary of Health and Human Resources, Janet Kelly, and Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth, Jenna Moon, where they were presented with a proclamation signed by Governor Youngkin.
