The Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance today praised the release of the FY2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bill by the Congressional Appropriations Committees and urged swift action to advance and enact the legislation. The bill includes critical funding and policy provisions supporting ovarian cancer research, education, and early detection.

The FY2026 bill would strengthen federal efforts to combat ovarian and other gynecologic cancers through the following investments and measures:
- $50 million for the Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program (OCRP), supporting innovative research into prevention, early detection, and treatment.
- $12.5 million for Johanna’s Law, sustaining national education and awareness efforts focused on ovarian cancer symptoms and risk factors.
- $15 million for the Ovarian Cancer Control Initiative, expanding access to care, survivorship support, and public health programs.
- Inclusion of the Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) legislation, establishing a coverage pathway for emerging early detection technologies as the science continues to evolve.
OCRA appreciates today’s action by the Appropriations Committees, which reflects meaningful progress in addressing the unmet needs of people affected by ovarian cancer,” said Audra Moran, President and CEO of OCRA. “These investments—and the inclusion of the MCED legislation—underscore the importance of sustained federal leadership. Congress must now move quickly to advance and enact the final bill.
OCRA will continue to advocate for passage of the FY2026 appropriations and related legislation, emphasizing that consistent federal funding is essential to driving research progress, expanding education efforts, and improving care for those impacted by ovarian and gynecologic cancers.
