It’s the season of giving, and all over the nation, OCRA Heroes are coming together to fundraise for ovarian cancer research. And they are extraordinary!

I’m writing today to tell you about one of our most dedicated, vocal OCRA Heroes, Mai Linh Nguyen Achong.

Mai Linh was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2008, when she was just 26 years old. Diagnosis presented daily challenges and unforeseen stress. Mai Linh wanted to do everything in her power to ensure that no other women and no other families have to go through what she had. And so, she took action.

Mai Linh OCRA Hero

This past September, while also fighting a recurrence, Mai Linh hosted OCRA’s first ever Ovarian Cycle Orlando ride, uniting more than 50 friends for a fun indoor cycling event to raise funds and find cures for ovarian cancer.

Mai Linh’s hard work and dedication raised over $20,000 for research!

She’s not done yet, and won’t be until we have a cure for every woman facing this devastating disease. In this season of giving, Mai Linh is rallying her loved ones to fundraise as an OCRA Holiday Hero. With Mai Linh’s help — and 1,300 other Heroes like her — we are one step closer to a world in which no woman suffers from ovarian cancer.

One day we will end ovarian cancer — and with the help of our Heroes like Mai Linh, we know that day will come sooner.
