New policy hub builds on record of helping to secure billions in federal funding and training thousands of advocates, with expanded priorities and an interactive policy map

New York, NY – [November 20, 2025] — Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) today announced the launch of its Center for Public Policy, a dedicated hub that reflects expanded policy priorities while building on the organization’s long-standing leadership on Capitol Hill and across the country.

OCRA remains the only national organization dedicated to fighting for ovarian and gynecologic cancer issues on Capitol Hill—leading efforts to improve research and education, expand access to drugs and diagnostics, and ensure high-quality care for patients and families. To date, OCRA’s advocacy efforts have helped secure more than $3.8 billion in federal research and education funding, trained over 1,800 Advocate Leaders, and driven more than 2,100 meetings with legislative offices on behalf of the gynecologic cancer community.

The Center for Public Policy brings together our federal and state policy work, grassroots advocacy, and new tools like our interactive policy map,” said Audra Moran, President and CEO of OCRA. “It strengthens our voice and expands our reach so that every gynecologic cancer patient has powerful representation where decisions are made.

Expanded Priorities, Stronger Focus

The Center for Public Policy will organize OCRA’s advocacy efforts around five key priority areas:

  • Accelerating Research, Innovation & Awareness
OCRA advocates for robust federal investment in ovarian and gynecologic cancer research and education to drive earlier detection, more effective treatments, and improved quality of life. Working with Congress, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Department of Defense, OCRA pushes to expand research funding, support early-career investigators, and ensure ovarian cancer remains a national priority.
  • Expanding Access to Quality Care
Every person facing gynecologic cancer deserves timely, high-quality, and affordable care—no matter their ZIP code or income. The Center supports policies that protect and expand insurance coverage, reduce barriers to seeing gynecologic oncology specialists, and strengthen programs that help patients navigate complex treatment decisions.
  • Advancing Clinical Trials & Equity
Clinical trials are essential to progress, yet participation remains too low and too inequitable. OCRA champions policies that make clinical trials more accessible, affordable, and representative—especially for communities of color and people in rural areas—so every patient has the opportunity to benefit from breakthroughs.
  • Improving Drug & Diagnostic Access
Patients must have timely access to life-extending drugs and cutting-edge diagnostics. The Center backs legislation that lowers out-of-pocket costs, streamlines approval and coverage processes, and encourages innovation in biomarker testing and personalized medicine, while safeguarding safety, transparency, and equity.
  • Supporting Survivorship & Patient Needs
Living with and beyond gynecologic cancer should come with compassion and support, not barriers. OCRA advocates for policies that protect fertility and reproductive health, expand mental health resources, and ensure long-term survivorship care is fully integrated into the healthcare system for patients and caregivers.

New Interactive Policy Map

As part of the Center’s launch, OCRA will roll out its Interactive Policy Map that offers a real-time view of state and federal bills affecting the ovarian and gynecologic cancer community.

The tool is designed to help advocates, policymakers, clinicians, and community members:

  • See where legislative action is happening
  • Track the progress of key bills and funding priorities
  • Identify opportunities to take action and raise their voices

Whether users are seasoned advocates or just getting started, the map will make it easier to understand what’s at stake in their region and how they can make an impact.

The Center for Public Policy brings together our data, our programs, and our people in a way that’s more strategic and more transparent,” said Chad Ramsey, OCRA’s Vice President of Policy. “Our new policy map, combined with our expanding advocacy programs, will make it easier than ever for people across the country to plug in and help move critical legislation forward.

Signature Programs Continuing Within the Center for Public Policy

The Center for Public Policy will continue to house OCRA’s hallmark advocacy initiatives, which have helped build a nationwide community of engaged, informed advocates:

  • Advocate Leaders Program – OCRA’s Advocate Leaders program has already trained more than 1,800 advocatesto share their stories, visit Capitol Hill, and build lasting relationships with lawmakers.
  • Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. – Each year, advocates from across the country travel to Washington to meet with members of Congress and their staff, calling for increased federal funding and patient-centered policies.
  • Advocate’s Corner Monthly Column – OCRA will continue its Advocate’s Corner column, authored by Vice President of Policy Chad Ramsey, which offers monthly, behind-the-scenes updates on the latest policy developments, federal funding debates, and the work of Advocate Leaders nationwide.
  • Action Alerts & Grassroots Engagement – Through targeted action alerts and email updates, OCRA mobilizes thousands of advocates to contact their elected officials, sign letters, and join campaigns at critical moments.

These programs are central to who we are,” Moran added. “As key components of the Center for Public Policy, they signal to policymakers and patients alike that OCRA is committed to protecting the progress we’ve made and pushing for what’s urgently needed next.
