SEATTLE, WA — July 7, 2025 — Hundreds of runners, walkers, families, and even some four-legged friends will gather at Seward Park on Sunday, July 13, 2025, for the OCRA Rivkin Family SummeRun, raising critical funds for ovarian cancer research. Now entering its fourth decade, this iconic and impactful 5K run/walk has raised over $10 million to date in support of scientific discovery and progress.

The SummeRun was created by Dr. Saul Rivkin, a renowned oncologist, and his five daughters, following the loss of his wife and the girls’ mother, Marsha Rivkin, to ovarian cancer. Together, they founded the Marsha Rivkin Ovarian Cancer Research Center, which evolved into the Seattle-based Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research. In April 2025, the Rivkin Center became part of Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA), bringing together two organizations long committed to advancing research and scientific advancements for the ovarian cancer community.
“For more than 30 years, this event has been a powerful way to honor my late wife Marsha and support everyone affected by ovarian cancer by funding critical research,” said Dr. Saul Rivkin, founder of the Rivkin Center. “I’m proud to see the SummeRun continue to thrive with OCRA, and I hope you’ll join me in keeping the spirit strong. The mission hasn’t changed—and neither has our community’s strength.”
Proceeds from the event will support the Rivkin Pilot Grant, to support innovative breakthroughs across all areas of ovarian cancer research, continuing Rivkin Center’s extraordinary legacy of hope, determination, and relentless pursuit of a cure.
“The SummeRun has united generations of families, survivors, and supporters in pursuit of one shared goal: ending ovarian cancer,” said Audra Moran, President and CEO of Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. “Every step taken at Seward Park supports researchers whose ideas could lead to earlier detection, better treatments, and improved outcomes for everyone affected by this disease.”
Participants of all ages and fitness levels are invited to register and take part. Ovarian and gynecologic cancer survivors may register for free.
